About East Coast Hospice
About This Shop
We are fundraising to build a ten-bed specialist palliative care facility with day-care and complementary therapies for the people of Great Yarmouth & Waveney. Currently, we have over 7 acres of land on the Gorleston/Hopton border in Norfolk, UK. We have architectural plans, planning permission, and are beginning the pre-tendering process. We cannot build without your help.
We are the only area left in the country without a hospice – why is the Great Yarmouth & Waveney area deprived of a hospice when other areas have one? Well, not for much longer!
The vast majority (nearly 80%) of people say they would like to be cared for at home or in a hospice; however, in this area patients do not have this choice. Their choice is only home or in an acute hospital ward; in the 21st Century, this is not acceptable.
Bag a bargain & support a worthy cause
We have a chain of charity shops (currently 9 with the objective of having 15 by the end of 2016, and a goal of 20 by the start of the build of the hospice.) These shops are an integral part of our strategy to provide firstly capital funding and thereafter revenue funding for the ongoing running of the hospice.
Our shops are also our show-case on the ‘High Street’ with information about our charity, its progress and future events displayed within. Charity shops are a great way to reduce, re-use, and recycle. Get a bargain from us, look great too, help the environment, and support our plans for a local hospice.
Importance of Volunteering & Donating
Our volunteers bring us abundant local enthusiasm, talent, and expertise. Join our friendly team and help to make the hospice a reality. (You may even get a biscuit or two to go with new friends, a laugh and some new skills!) –contact us for a volunteer application pack.
Please support our shops by taking in your unwanted items and, just as importantly, go there to buy clothes, books, DVDs, and a wide range of bric-a-brac and small electrical items. If you have any items for the shops and are unable to bring them in yourself please contact us and we will arrange collection.
