About Eric Liddell
About This Shop
“Founded in memory of the 1924 gold-medal Olympian, the Eric Liddell Centre is a registered Scottish Charity dedicated to inspiring, empowering and supporting people of all ages, cultures and abilities in the local community of Edinburgh. Eric, whose successes are portrayed in the Oscar-winning film “Chariots of Fire”, both studied and lived locally and upheld a strong belief in the expression of compassionate Christian values which the Centre aims to maintain through its charitable work.
We operate a range of caring projects including a registered day care service for people with dementia and the Ca(I)re Programme – a project for carers that provides free educational, social and health based courses. Additionally, we provide low-cost office space for other small charities and suites to hire for over 180 other groups each year also providing activities for the community.
Within the Centre you’ll find our unique charity shopping ‘mall’ selling a range of donated goods including children and infants clothing, books and small household items. The mall is a popular feature of the building and continues to give back to the community whilst helping us raise valuable funds that support our work. Once you are finished browsing, our Café Connect is on-hand to offer a fantastic range of coffees, teas, cakes and light snacks for you to enjoy under the breath-taking stained glass surroundings.”
