About Hospice in The Weald
About This Shop
Hospice in the Weald provides specialist advice and support for people with life-threatening illness, their families and the bereaved. It is based in Pembury and serves a community of approximately 300,000 over an area of 400sq. miles of West Kent and East Sussex. Established since 1980, the Hospice comprises an In-Patient Unit and a Day Therapy Centre offering a range of treatments, complementary therapies, and clinics. A community team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Doctors provides 24 hour advice and support to the local community and all nursing and medical services are backed up with family support, bereavement counseling, spiritual care and a health information service. All Hospice services and activities are supported by a skilled and dedicated team of volunteers and are provided completely free of charge to the local community. Hospice in the Weald is a charity, dependent on the community to fund its essential work – its Government funding is only half that afforded to the average adult hospice in the UK.
