About Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance
About This Shop
The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is a dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service that is 21 Years Young this year. They first began flying operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994. In 1997 the service was extended to include Nottinghamshire too.
The helicopter can reach any point in the two counties in less than 20 minutes and on average can transfer a patient to a hospital within 8 minutes. Each mission costs over £2000 and they fly at least 3 missions per day, every day. Each year the charity needs to raise £1.9M to keep the helicopter flying and saving lives.
Based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, the helicopter base is unaffected by road congestion, country roads, heavy vehicles, or road works. Their Helicopter, affectionately known as their‘ Ambucopter’, is fully equipped for almost any medical emergency. It is permanently staffed by two paramedics and often a doctor.
Every year the service flies nearly 1,000 missions and each year the generous people of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire help them raise the money to do this! To keep flying the charity asks supporters to continue to spread the word, organise fundraisers, play their lottery, volunteer their time, purchase from and donate to their 10 charity shops across the counties.
The charity has opened lots of new shops in the last few years so you’re bound to find a fabulous, good quality bargain in one of them! The charity has shops across the two counties: Ashby, Bracebridge Heath, Grimsby, Lincoln, Mansfield Woodhouse, Mapperley, Market Rasen, North Hykeham, Retford, Spalding, Stapleford, Sutton in Ashfield, West Bridgford and Wragby. From smaller boutique-style stores to large furniture focused ones there’s a wide range of handpicked delights to suit all tastes and styles! The charity offers a furniture collection service too.
