About Willow Wood Hospice
About This Shop
Willow Wood is a centre of excellence for life enhancing care.
Willow Wood cares for those living with life limiting illnesses such as neurological conditions (eg multiple sclerosis or motor neurone disease), heart and lung disease, kidney disease as well as the 200+ forms of cancer.
This care, whether it be physical, psychological, social or spiritual, also extends to families and partners and aims to help everyone who passes through our doors attain the best possible quality of life.
Willow Wood has many facilities, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, a Lymphoedema clinic, blood transfusion, hairdressing, a beauty salon, recreational and creative activities including aromatherapy, reflexology and more. The Hospice was designed with the needs of the patients and their families in mind and provides a warm, happy and cheery atmosphere.
No charge is made for any of the services available, and this year it will cost £2.1 million to maintain the high standards of care. Over 75% of this has to come from the local community of Tameside and Glossop, and a substantial proportion of this income comes from sales in the seven charity shops. While six of these shops accept pre-loved bric a brac, jewellery, clothing, toys, books etc, the seventh shop is a dedicated furniture shop. The success of this furniture shop has just seen a move to considerably larger premises, where high quality second hand furniture can be displayed along with a dedicated children’s shop, and a book and music section on the first floor.
