The shop was set up as a trading subsidiary of North Kent Mind, in January 2016. All profits made are donated to North Kent Mind to fund community services supporting those people with health issues. “Made in kent” is a new type of charity shop selling new locally sourced quality products and art, this supports local artisans and artists to sell their products. It also supports people recovering with mental health issues by offering work placements at the shop to build confidence, self-esteem and give up to date experience. The shop is run entirely by volunteers.
