Pick up a recycled bicycle or vacuum cleaner at the charity shop, what a good idea. Repairing and restoring bicycles and vacuums so they avoid landfill, and have a new life, better still they are available at very good prices through participating charity shops.
Recycle Your Cycle (www.recycleyourcycle.org.uk), is a social enterprise working with the prison service to refurbish, bicycles and vacuum cleaners and then sell these through the charity sector enabling charities to raise funds for their particular cause. We have set-up workshops at 7 prisons, HMP Hewell, HMP Wandsworth, HMP Cardiff, HMP Stocken (Midlands), HMP Nottingham, HMP & YOI Swinfen and HMP Liverpool. In these workshops, prisoners are trained in bicycle and vacuum cleaner repair and refurbishment, this helps with their rehabilitation and hopefully enables them to find employment upon their release. The charities then get the benefit of a quality refurbished product that they can sell at a good profit.
We currently work with over 30 different UK charities and looking for more charity partners with retail outlets who are interested in selling refurbished bicycles and vacuum cleaners to raise additional funds. We are contactable on info@recycleyourcycle.org.uk
