About Age Concern Central Lancashire
About This Shop
Established in 1981, Age Concern Central Lancashire provides a wide range of quality services for older people within the boundaries of Central Lancashire to meet the needs identified by older people and their carers. Our aim is to promote the well-being of older people and help make life a more fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
All our shops are warm and friendly and stock a wide range of good as new items from clothing, bric a brac, books, homeware, and even mobility aids are available in some of our shops. We can collect unwanted items from your home across the Preston and South Ribble area. Please contact us on 01772 250773 or email us at collections@55plus.org.uk.
All income raised through our shops supports our free of charge community support and information service (CSI), helping older people with a range of issues from energy, health, and wellbeing, accessing grants, managing bills, benefit checks and much more.
Older people are finding it harder to fund the daily support they need and over the last year, the CSI team made over 1000 home visits to residents across Preston and South Ribble and helped older people in the area to secure around £789,194.12 in welfare benefits. An extract from a thank you letter we received summarises how essential this service is: “When I first applied to Age Concern I did not know what to expect. You may rest assured that you have helped two old people to make life that little easier in our twilight years and we shall never forget what you did. You deserve the highest praise, not for the money you got us, but for the compassion you gave to two old people”.
