About Alabare
About This Shop
Alabaré is a charity that works with vulnerable and marginalised people in our communities, supporting and enabling them to live enjoyable and independent lives. We run a range of homes and services providing accommodation, advice, training, and support. We support those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, Armed Forces Veterans, young people, vulnerable women, adults recovering from addiction, adults with learning disabilities, and those with mental ill-health.
The charity was established in 1991 and we maintain our vision of a society where everyone has the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.
We have over 50 homes and services across the South and South-West UK and in Wales and currently provide over 300-bed spaces in supported accommodation. Our main area of work is preventing homelessness, through the provision of the daytime drop-in centres and supported accommodation. Within our homes, staff provides personalised support and guidance to enable service users to gain the skills and confidence they need to move on and live successful independent lives. Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans initiative provides dedicated accommodation for homeless Veterans who are struggling to adapt to civilian life, and need specialist support to help them rebuild their lives.
We also support adults with learning disabilities and/ or mental ill-health: at our two vocational training centres and through a range of daytime activities and groups.
As a charity, we rely on fundraising activities to keep these services going, and our Charity Shops are a vital source of income. Our shops in Wiltshire and Hampshire provide a range of quality goods including white goods and furniture and are run by a team of friendly staff and volunteers. If you are able to spare a few hours a week and would like to volunteer in one of our shops, please get in touch! Call on 01722 322882 or email enquiries@alabare.co.uk
