About Ayrshire Cancer Support
About This Shop
Ayrshire Cancer Support was founded in 1982 with a mission statement of providing practical help and emotional support to cancer patients, their families and carers. Our emphasis is to improve the quality of life of those living with cancer with the aim of ensuring that assistance was readily available for all those who need it.
Our patient transport service ensures that patients are taken from their homes to hospitals for treatment by our volunteer drivers who use their own cars to provide transport. Our drivers collect patients from their homes, take them to hospital, wait with them until their treatment is finished and then take them back home.
Our Cancer Support Centres in Ayr and Kilmarnock provide a wide range of services which include counselling, support groups and complementary therapies.
All our services are provided free of charge and we do not receive any funding to help. We have to raise the revenue required from our 10 charity shops throughout the county, our fundraising initiatives and the generosity of local businesses and the public.
