About National Animal Welfare Trust
About This Shop
The National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) is a rescue and re-homing charity operating across the south of England.
We are home to a surprisingly wide variety of animals, caring for around 500 on any given day across our five centres, primarily cats and dogs, but also farm animals and small domestic pets too. We provide food, warmth and veterinary treatment to those animals in need of care, prior to finding them their forever home – however long it takes. Every animal remains in our hearts long after a new home is found and we continue to provide advice and guidance to support pet and owner in their new lives together. NAWT never stops caring and is totally reliant on the generosity of the public for donations and legacy gifts to support its valuable work, with costs running at in excess of £12,000 per day.
Over 500 volunteers donate their skills and time to the charity, for which we cannot thank them enough, with almost a quarter of these helping out in the charity shops ensuring that as much money as possible goes towards the animals in our care. Details of volunteer opportunities can be found on our website or why not call into one of the centres or charity shops.
There are four charity shops promoting the work of the charity and their local rescue centre, selling a wide variety of donated and new goods. Our shop in Watford is able to offer larger items of furniture and bicycles as involved with a local recycling company who, in conjunction with a local prison service, repair and spruce up the bikes ready for sale in the shop; collections and deliveries are also available within a 10 miles radius at a small charge. Falmouth has a ‘tea and coffee shop’ within the charity shop selling homemade cakes with great views out over the harbour, giving you more time to browse! As well as being available in all our shops new items such as greetings cards, stationery, homeware, seasonal items, pet accessories and lots more can also be found in our online shop. We also use eBay for those ‘special’ items needing to reach a wider audience to maximise the funds raised. It is also possible to sign up for gift aid at our Watford and Falmouth shops, with the others to follow shortly – your donations could be worth 25% more to us.
