About Tynedale Hospice at Home
About This Shop
Tynedale Hospice at Home provides nursing care and services to children, adults, and families from across Tynedale, West Northumberland, and Ponteland.
Unlike many hospices, Tynedale Hospice at Home does not have an in-patient unit, instead, we offer nursing care in the home for people who require palliative care, and support is given by trained nurses and health support workers. In addition to nursing care, we also provide a hospital transport service for patients who need to get to a hospital for essential appointments and treatment – as we cover an 800 square mile radius, this service is a vital lifeline for people in our community.
The final service that Tynedale Hospice offers is family support for children, adults, and families who are facing or grieving the death of a loved one. This service is open to anyone in the community, regardless of whether they have had any prior experience of another of the Hospice services.
All of our services are provided free of charge and we rely on the generosity of the local community in order to fund the work of the Hospice. It costs over £700 thousand each year to run our services, of which 90% must be raised through fundraising and charitable donations.
In the last year, Tynedale Hospice has provided palliative care and family support to 439 adults and children in the local community.
We have shops that sell donated items and include a specialist book shop at Battle Hill in Hexham, and a Furniture and Home shop in Hexham. Our three clothes and general items shops are based at Battle Hill in Hexham, Ponteland, and the latest shop in Prudhoe.
